'No need for education for men who live like animal'

A public meeting organized by the All Manipur Parents and Teachers Association (AMPTA) today resolved to press agitating bodies on July 23 Khwairamband Bazar incident to bring amicable solution with the government consider for the future of the students.
The meeting held at Koirengei Rongmei Baptist Church near Kirengei Old Air Field was graced by founder member of Hundred Flower's Higher Secondary School MA Rehman and convener of AMPTA and also principal of EK Higher Secondary School, P Sharatchandra as chief guest and president respectively.
The meeting urged parents and guardians what they owe to do for their better future of their wards under the initiative of the founders of the schools or principals and seat together for consultation for early solution to the prevailing impasse which led in keeping students out of class for the last nearly four months.
An adhoc committee was also formed by a resolution of the meeting to translate the resolution of the meeting.
Speaking at the meeting as chief guest, MA Rehman observed that to remain close schools for long time is not a good sign as schools are the foundation to make perfect future pillars.
At the same time, he added, schools cannot be opened in the prevailing situations as apprehensions of torching schools are around here.
So, a concerted effort of all section of the society is a must for bringing amicable solution to the impasse first, he observed.
Principal of the AK Higher Secondary, P Sharatchandra who presided over the meeting said "if we want to live like animal, no need for education and if we want to live like human being, education is a must".
He further observed that classes are going on undisturbed in five hill districts.
In Thoubal and Bishnupur only few schools are remaining closed.
The most affected is the Imphal east and west districts.
As majority of the schools are conducting normal classes, authorities as well as government will effort to conduct annual examinations.
This will give a great imbalance and impact to students who could not attend classes.
The meeting was attended by students, parents, guardians and teachers of various schools.
