State education minister, L Jayentakumar today said that the scheme of the Union Human Resource Development Ministry to provide a laptop each students studying in government run schools free of cost will be commenced from the coming academic session.
However, giving the laptop to each student will not be possible during the first phase of the implementation of the scheme at the technical points of view of the vast scheme involving huge expenditure, the minister said talking to Hueiyen Lanpao.
Around 200 schools selected from the schools in both valley and hills areas will be covered in the implementation of the first phase of the scheme, he added.
The scheme which aimed at imparting computer education to the students will be given benefits to the students studying from Standard VI to VII.
Union ministry has contacted a latop manufacturing company based in America for supply of the laptops.
Under the scheme, students will no more need for carrying study materials while going to school.
All study materials and contains of the text books will be fitted to the laptops.
Apart from the said scheme, another E-learning programme of the Union minister of human resources will also be implemented in the state.
The scheme will benefit to the students studying upto Standard-XII.
The ministry has started to chalk out the strategy of the scheme, the minister added.
Meanwhile, the 56th meeting of Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE) under the Human Resource Development will be held at New Delhi tomorrow.
Union human resource minister Kapil Sibal will inaugurate the meeting.
Education minister himself along with commissioners of education (s) and (U) and education secretary has left Imphal today.
the meeting will prominently discuss on the examination reforms of Class-X which included in the 100-days work programme of the UPA government.
The meeting will also discuss on the compulsory free education to every children of the country apart from reviewing the SSA, Mid-Day Meal, RMSA and adult education schemes.
After the official level meeting concluded, ministerial level meeting will be held on September 1, the minister said.
