Imphal, September 15, 2009:
Four shops including a pharmacy located at Torbung Bangla in Bishnupur district have been gutted by fire believed to have originated from a shop dealing in diesel and petrol.
The fire which broke out at about 6.15 today destroyed one pharmacy, one grocery shop, one shop dealing in petrol and diesel and a video hall.
It is estimated that good worth Rs five lakhs have been destroyed by the fire.
The gutted shops belong to Naorem Chaobhal of Torbung Bangla Maning Leikai.
Except for the pharmacy run by one Naorem Dorendro, all the three other shops were run by Chaobhal's sons/relatives.
Fire tenders stationed at Churachandpur and Moirang ultimately succeeded in controlling the fire.
