Eight activists of the All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO), arrested yesterday have been remanded to police custody for 15 days.
Altogether 9 AMUCO activists were pulled up by police from two different places yesterday.
But one activist has been released today.
The remaining eight activists were produced before a Duty Magistrate at Imphal this afternoon.
While police sought custody of the AMUCO activists for 20 days, the Court granted remand till September 29. The arrested AMUCO activists are Likmabam Tompok (50) s/o late Gouramani of Maklang Mayai Leikai, Th Dinesh (39) s/o Gambhir of Sega Road Takhellambam Leikai, Irom Brojen (40) s/o Gouramani of Haorang Khunou, Samjetshabam Nando (48) s/o Gouragopal of Pangei Awang Leikai, Chungshel Koireng (39) s/o Chungshel Mongsho of Thangmeiband Koireng Khul, Amom Soken (41) s/o Kanhai of Wangoo Tera, Taorem Ramananda (50) s/o Dhananjoy of Patsoi Part II and Yumnam Jiten (32) s/o late Achou of Kwakeithel Mayai Koibi.
Out of them, Jiten was arrested from Imphal airport yesterday afternoon while the others were arrested from AMUCO office.
Jiten is also an activist of the Citizens Concern for Dams and Development (CCDD).
S Nando is a functionary of the AMESCO.
An FIR case has been registered against them under Section 121/121-A of IPC, Section 16/18/39 of UA(P) Act and Section O of the Official Secret Act.
Sarat of Langthabal Kabui Khul arrested together with them has been released.
