Imphal, December 21:
The proscribed outfit KYKL has categorically stated that the charges levelled against UPF of levying Rs 100 from each of the school under the SSA scheme was based on the statement given to the investigating officer of ONK by AI Ibopishak who was pulled up along with AI Oinam Kesho in connection with a Mid-day Meal scheme scandal.
According to the statement of AI Ibopishak, a total amount of Rs 13,300 deducted at the rate of Rs 100 each from 133 schools had been kept side for UPF from the fund withdrawn under SSA scheme for this year, deputy commander of special task force of Operation New Kangleipak 2nd Lt Moramba Mangang said in a statement.
The said amount to be handed over to UPF has been stalled by ONK, Moramba said, adding that in case UPF is not related to the case, then it means that there are some people who passed off themselves as UPF members and collect money from the departments.
So it would be necessary on the part of UPF to find out the truth after meeting the officials related to implementation of the SSA, Moramba said, while clarifying that the mention of UPF in the charges was not deliberate as it was purely based on the statement given by AI Ibopishak.
On the other hand, it is a common knowledge to all that the UG groups, social organisations and student bodies have been collecting money required by them from the people as well as from various Government departments in one way or the other, Moramba said.
In fact, KYKL does not consider it wrong on the part of the UG groups, social organisations and student bodies in taking just a little amount of the required money from the SSA fund as part of the donation drive, Moramba said, while admitting that other than the Education Department, KYKL too has been taking money from other Government Departments.
On that day, KYKL had only made an appeal to all the UG groups, social organisations and student bodies not to press for money in future.
So, KYKL did not think it as a serious matter in mentioning the name of UG groups, social organisations and students bodies at the time of coming out with statements of Ibopishak and Kesho, Moramba explained, while expressing regret if it had hurt the sentiment of any organisation.
