Priyadarshini Heisnam who has been selected as best performer in the 31st State Level Student's Science Seminar organised by the Education (School) Department at GM Hall will present Manipur in the National Science Seminar.
The seminar is held annually by the department under the sponsorship of the National Council of Science Museum, New Delhi since 1978.The theme this year is "Chandrayan: Promises and Concerns".
The objective of organizing the seminar is to spread the knowledge of science to the students by holding seminars at the district, state and national levels.
The Twenty-six students, two each from 13 zones selected from different schools by the Zonal Educational Offices under the education department by holding zonal level seminars participated in the state level seminar held at GM hall today.
Jurists of the seminar announced Priyadarshini of Nirmalabas High School as the best performer in the state level seminar.
She will represent the state in the national science seminar to be held at Nehru Science Seminar on September 26 this year.
Henry Haokip of Don Bosco, Churachandpur adjust the second best performer while Julia Sarangthem of JNV, Chandel was announced as the third best performer of the seminar.
The first session of the seminar presided over by former secretary of the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur, S Chaoba while the second part was presided over by director of education (s), M Harekrishna.
Harekrishna also distributed the prizes of the seminar to the best performing students.
Speaking on the occasion, the director expressed concern over the non-utilization of computer sets supply to various schools under the education (s) department.
He also announced that the department has provision of supply of laptop free of cost to some selected students of government school.
He also appealed to the teachers to help in imparting science knowledge to the students.
