Women members and workers of MPP today staged sit-in protest as the protest against July 23 Khwairamband Bazar shooting incident and pressing resignation of the chief minister, O Ibobi continue today also at several places.
Women members and workers of the MPP staged the sit-in protest in front of the party office located on the western side of the Pologround today joining the protest of the people demanding resignation of chief minister.
At the concluding part of the protest staged, they also marched a rally and offered floral tributes to the photographs of Rabina and Sanjit.
MPP president Nimaichand Luwang, secretary Y Mangi, N Sanajaoba also attended to the protest which led by MPP Chanura Marup president Okram Thoibi and its executives.
The protest commenced from 11 am and went on till 4 pm.
Slogans like, "Handover the July 23 shooting to CBI, conduct judicial inquiry to every controversial killing by the security forces, stop immediately extra-judicial killing were written in the placards displayed at the protest site.
Chanura Marup, president Thoibi blamed the government for trying to suppress the people protest instead of fulfilling the demands of the people.
Government intention to divert the incident of killing the seven month pregnant woman, Rabina and a youth shows that there is no need of remaining in power the present government under the leadership of O Ibobi.
Ibobi is indirectly supporting police commandos in committing fake encounter, she alleged demanding immediate resignation from the post of chief minister.
The rally which marched toward the BT road was prevented by the police but later when police were convinced that they come to pay floral tributes to Rabina at the place where police blocked them.
Showing solidarity to the demand of resignation of chief minister, womenfolk also staged a sit-in protest at Taretkhul Market shed.
They also carried out a protest rally chanting slogans like resign chief minister, O Ibobi, punish the police commandos involved in the July 23 fake encounter etc.
At the concluding part of the rally, the protestors also burnt down effigies of the chief minister, DGP.
In the protest women from Taret Khun, Uyumpok Mamang Leikai, Lamboikhul, nongsum, Keibi Heikak Mapal, Heikak Mapal Makha Leikai, Keibi Kumuda, Chnung and Keibi Mayai Leikai took part.
Another sit-in protest was also staged at Ngairangbam Awang Leikai organized by the NH-53 Coordinating Committee Apunba Meira Paibi, Clu, Organisation and association.
They also burnt down the effigies of Sonia Gandhi, Manmohon and Chidabaram.
Moreover, sit-in protest staged at Awang Khunou Mayai Leikai.
It was organized by Awang Khunou Nupi Lup and Awang Khunuo Mayai Leikai Meira Paibi Lup.
