Imphal, May 16: Three hardcore Kuki National Front Military Council (KNF MC) cadres surrendered before Brigadier RK Sharma, Commander 59 Mountain Brigade at the 14th Assam Rifles post at Jwalamukhi today along with some arms and ammunition, informed a PIB statement.

The three cadres who surrendered today have been identified as Senpu Singsit (20) alias Kishore s/o Kaikhokam Singsit of Keithelmanbi Military Co-lony, Sonkhongul Kipgen alias Matrix (22) s/o Dou-kam Kipgen of Pangjang Village and Thongthang Singsit alias Francis (33) s/o Thongkhosei Singsit of Gopibung under Kangpokpi PS.

Arms and ammunition surrendered by the trio include 303 rifles, one bolt action rifle, one 9 mm pistol, one hand grenade and some assorted ammunition.

Speaking at the surrender ceremony, Brigadier RK Sharma lauded the role of the civil administrators, police and the village authorities for extending cooperation and support to the security forces in its effort to make the State insurgency free.

Highlighting that a number of developmental projects and medical camps are being undertaken by the army and the Assam Rifles across the State in its bid to improve the quality of life in rural areas, he also assured of extending all possible help to the three surrendered militants from the Assam Rifles side for restarting their lives.

Brigadier RK Sharma besides handing over certificates also gave away incentive cash awards of Rs 3000 each to the three militants.
