Even though the judicial inquiry as assured by the chief minister is yet to order, seven police commando personnel including a sub-inspector have been placed under suspension from service against six announced by the Chief Minister, O Ibobi yesterday.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister, O Ibobi Singh called on with the Governor, Gurbachan Jagat this evening and briefed on the developing situation as desire by the Governor.
Chief Minister was assisted by state chief secretary, DS Poonia and DGP in the briefing, source said.
Before meeting with the Governor, Ibobi held a preparatory meeting with the top brasses of the state home department on the prevailing tense situation in the wake up people uprising following the exposure of police commandos killing people in fake encounter.
On the other hand, even though Chief Minister announced judicial probe into the July 23 firing incident, the order regarding the institution of the judicial enquiry committee is yet to issue.
Sources said that authorities are on hectic effort to contact a judge of the high court for heading the judicial inquiry into the July 23 firing provoked in crowded Khrairamband area resulted into the killing of a young pregnant woman, a youth and injured to five others including two women.
However, the suspension orders of seven police commandos against six announced yesterday by Chief Minister was issued by the senior superintendent of Imphal west district police, L Kailun and respective commanding officers of 8th Manipur Rifles and 5th IRB with date on August 5 .
The suspended police personnel are Sub-Inspector Koijam Punshiba Meetei, head constables Thokchom Herojit, Oinam Keshor and constable, Wahengbam Binoy of the Imphal west district police.
The suspension order issued by the senior SP of the district stated that the police officer, head constables and constable have been placed under suspension for their "grave misconduct" while discharging their duty.
The SP suspended them under Rule 66 of Assam Police Manual part-III which extended in the state too.
The other three police commandos, two from 8th Manipur Rifles personnel and one from 5th IRB attached as police commandos in Imphal west have also been placed under suspension.
They are rifleman, Ng Toyaima, havildars Th Jagat Singh (both from 8th MR) and Md Imran (5th IRB) by orders issued by the Commanding Officers of the respective battalions, source said.
The three personnel are attached as police commandos in Imphal West district police and posted at the recently opened Bazar unit of the Imphal west police commandos having about 100 strengths.
During the period under suspension, they will be at the reserved lines of the Imphal west district police and will not be allowed to leave the headquarters without prior permission from the competent authority, the orders stated.
