Security forces have reportedly arrested five underground activists belonging to three different outfits from different parts of the State yesterday.
The arrested UGs include one PREPAK cadre, one UNLF cadre and three KCP cadres.
Two of the arrested KCP cadres are said to be female cadres.
According to a statement issued by Senior SP of Thoubal District Clay Khongsai today, the PREPAK activist identified as Thingnam Indrajit Singh (26) s/o Th Ibomcha Singh of Umathel Awang Leikai was apprehended during a joint operation launched by a combined force of Thoubal Police Commandos and personnel of 21 Assam Rifles based on specific information in the general area of Kakching Khunou Bazar area at around 11 am yesterday.
On interrogation, Indrajit disclosed that he is an active member of PREPAK working in finance section of the outfit.
In the follow up action, the combined team also launched search operation in and around Umathel area and apprehended one cadre of the proscribed UNLF at around 11.30 am yesterday.
On interrogation, the arrested UNLF cadre identified as Khumukcham Lanthoi Singh alias Amuthoi (28) s/o Kh Manglemjao of Umathel Awang Leikai disclosed that he is an active member of the outfit having service no.1157 of 18th batch and he joined the outfit through one self styled lance corporal Tombisana in 1999 and he is working in the finance section of the outfit.
On the same day, Thoubal Police Commandos also arrested three KCP cadres including two women cadres during a frisking and checking operation at Khangabok Bazar area at around 11.30 am, the SSP informed.
Identifying the three arrested KCP cadres as Oinam Ibohal Singh alias Oja Ibohal (49) s/o O Kondumba Singh of Ishok Maning Leikai, Elangbam Debala Devi (37) w/o late E Brojen Singh of Sugnu Pombikhok but staying at Canchipur and Leimapokpam Nungsitombi Devi alias Nganthoi (43) w/o L Jayenta Singh of Kiyamgei Awang Leikai, the SSP further informed that one mobile Nokia handset and one Maruti van bearing registration no.MN-IK/7893 maroon colour have been recovered from their possession.
