TNW demands lifting of CrPC, SF

Imphal, August 19 2014: Tangkhul Naga Wungnaolong (TNW), an apex body of Ukhrul village chiefs has demanded the govt to lift the imposition of CrPc 144 and subsequent deployment of large number of police commando, IRB and MR personnel clamped in Ukhrul dist in the aftermath of the killing of Ngalangzar Malue, Member of ADC Ukhrul on July 22 last.

Addressing a press meet at Yaingangpokpi Wunghon village, RS Raihing, president of TNW, who is also the chief of Wunghon village stated that there have been feelings of fear and tension amongst the people of Ukhrul HQ following the imposition of CrPc 144 and subsequent deployment of a large number of police personnel.

He said that situation in the district is under control now with no news of untoward happenings so the imposition of CrPc 144 should be lifted and the deployment of security personnel withdrawn.

Maintaining that the association and public of Ukhrul also condemned the killing of Malue, he appealed to all concerned not to repeat such act which could destabilize peace and tranquility in the district in future.
