Imphal, November 10 2009:
Manipur police Tuesday forced three Swiss nationals to cancelled further trip to Thailand via Myanmar as they do not obtained Protection Area Permit from the authority before entering Manipur.
The three Swiss national namely Fabian Kung, Ruedi Wannei and Maicel Haushen entering to Manipur through the NH-53 were picked up by the state police last night from Hotel Bheigo, Imphal were they arrived yesterday and produced in the court today.
According to the police, they have been picked up for not possessing valid PAP from the competent authority for entering Manipur along with the car they are travelling.
According to the Swiss nationals, they entered Manipur as a part of their trip to Thailand which covered India, Myanmar (Burma) to reach Thailand.
They have traveled the entire length from New Delhi to Manipur.
They possessed valid visa and other travelling documents but they were not aware of PAP.
So they did not obtained it, one of the foreign national said.
While reaching Imphal through the NH-53, they also crossed five police check post located within Manipur territory.
But any of the check posts asked for PAP or any other documents mandatory for foreigners entering Manipur.
Being ignorance of the PAP, they admitted entering state without mandatory documents in the court where they were produce by the police.
Court ordered police to detain them for five days if they could not pay a fine of Rs 500 each and back from their trip.
A police officer said that they have been released as they paid the filed but will not allow continue their trip further.
They will be back on the same route they come.
