With the assurance of providing assistance to the state affected by drought to take up steps for rabi crop, the inter-ministerial team led by joint secretary of Union agriculture and co-operation Dilip Nath left Imphal today completing the inspection programme.
Speaking to media persons yesterday, Dilip Nath said who led the six member inter-ministerial team said the team has conducted on spot inspection to the fields across the state affected by drought and they have assessed that around 50 percent of the fields hit by the drought even though the lately advent rain have give somewhat relief.
During the spot inspection, they also come to know that farmers are worried of bearing fruits even though they grow paddy in their fields.
They have also received a memorandum from the state government containing details of the drought affected field and impact to be got by the state owing to the drought.
Even though, drought affected the kharif crops, the team will recommend the Centre for taking up action plan for rabi crop in the state, he said expressing the team willingness to approach the centre for availing assistance under various schemes for the farmers.
The most important thing to deal with in the state is the financial problem facing by the farmers when drought hit state.
The state needs to take up steps to avail funds from the Centre to help the farmers and improve their economic condition, he said.
