Even though state government agreed Ukhrul DC, Pankaj Kumar Pal, IAS (MT (Manipur-Tripura)-cadre) who was place under suspension in connection with the case of murder of SDO, Dr Kishan and his two staff, his plea for transfer to other state on the pretext of underground threats to him, Centre has turned down it stating that he has no threat from any underground group.
A highly reliable source said that Manipur government has given clearance to the plea of the then DC of Ukhrul, Pankaj Kumar Pal when SDO, Kasom Khullen and his two subordinate staff were kidnapped and murdered subsequently allegedly by cadres of NSCN(IM) and transferred him to other state.
The report of underground threat to Pankaj was investigated by a team of the Central government who denied threat on him stating that he has no threat from any particular underground group.Pankaj had left state after state home department permitted to his plea but his whereabouts could not be confirmed from any source.
In the meantime, state government has received intimation that Pankaj has no threat from the undergrounds in his stay in Manipur.
