Imphal, November 05 2009:
The Bharatya Janata Party (BJP), Manipur Pradesh has decided to field its own candidate if the opposition parties fail to work out for a consensus candidate in the coming by-election of Yaiskul Assembly Constituency, which has remained vacant after the demise of sitting MLA and Deputy Chairman of the State Planning Board, E Kunjakishore in September.
'The opposition parties have been working out for filing a common candidate of the oppositions in the coming bye election to Yaiskul Assembly Constituency,' Dr H Borbabu told Hueiyen Lanpao in a free wheel interaction today at the party's office located at Nityapat Chuthek, Keishampat.
He however said that if the oppositions fail to work out for a consensus candidate, the BJP will file its own candidate to battle the Congress in the election.
He said, the BJP and the MPP have discussion on filing of a common candidate in the coming bye election.
Feelers have been sent to other opposition parties to join them in the fight.
He added that since the BJP is strongly for the toppling of the Congress government, the party is ready to work together with likeminded political parties for filing a common candidate in the coming by-poll.
"But in case the opposition parties fail to come out with a common candidate, the BJP will send its own candidate to have a fight with the Congress," Dr Borbabu asserted.
Dr Borbabu further observed that the Ibobi led government is not sincere in working out a solution to the impasse over the Khwairamband incident.
He also expressed dissatisfaction over the unresponsiveness of the gover nment in solving the class boycott impasse.
He said, the government should take larger responsibility in breaking the deadlock.
He also appealed the government to bring an amicable solution to the stalemate at the earliest time.
