A school and a college in Thoubal district were set on fire by miscreants in the continued attack on education institutions by class boycott supporters in the last three days.
They also ransacked furniture and documents of the institutions.
In the meantime, though schools in Imphal area have re-opened, normal classes are yet to
fully resume.
Miscreants set on fire the Top Chingtha Primary Madrasa under Yairipok police station of Thoubal district last night around 11 pm.
They also broke the door of the headmaster's room and destroyed furniture and documents of the school before setting afire.
Police have registered a case after the headmaster lodged a complaint inconnection with the incident.
Protesters also burnt down the administrative block (A-block) of the Kakching Khunou College, Umathel under Waikhong police station at about 1 pm today by pouring petrol.
A table, three chairs and some dossiers of the college at the receipt section of the block had been burned.
The block was burned by pouring petrol inside the room of the receipt section by some miscreants, according to the report collected from the college authority.
Decrying the attempt to set fire the college which is an aided one, principal of the college, P Ibemhal said it was built by the effort of the local people and the chaos of in education arising out of the class boycott stir put the college in the midst of stones.
She also expressed dissatisfaction over the attempt to set on fire the institution.
The college is observing harvesting holiday for 12 days from November 3 till November 14 following a notification issued on November 2 last.
Even though the college remained close for harvesting, the student union issued a notification on November 4 asking students to attain college stating that normal class will be resumed.
On the other hand, even though government provided security in school re-opened, due to less turn up of students normal classes in several schools in Imphal area could not conduct.
No class conducted in some schools as no student turned up.
