Noted writer, Mahosweta Devi, Magsaysay Award winner coming in the state to take part in the Festival Hope, Justice and Peace Imphal today expressed disappointment on the Manipur government refusal to call on Sharmila.
Authority of state government did not granted permission when she sought permission to call on with the lady who has been fasting for nine year demanding repeal of the AFPSA, Mahosweta said speaking at the inauguration function of the human right film festival at Centre for Manipuri Studies, Manipur University.
She was confused with the prevailing situation in Imphal.
Government even did not give permission to audience with the human right campaigner.
She sought permission from the chief secretary to allow her to call on with Sharmila.
When, they did not permit her, she came to the sense what a military rule is.
She was not obstructed by any one in Delhi.
She is well known even by the prime minister but Manipur government did not recognize her, she lamented.
She also assured that she will launch campaign on Sharmila's struggle in other part of the country.
In the film festival held at the hall of Anthropology department of MU, exclusive 30 miniute long report of CNN IBN correspondent Ajit Sen on Sharmila's struggle, noted film maker Kabita Joshi's "My Body, Weapon" were screened today.
