The owner of a taxi involved in a mishap in which six persons were killed besides seriously injuring 5 others was arrested by Ukhrul district police today.
The apprehended taxi owner would be produced before the CJM Ukhrul tomorrow.
On October 13, taxi (Marshall Jeep MN 1A/6717) met with an accident and rolled down a steep hillside near Nilai tea farm of Tolloi, Ukhrul district.
In the mishap, six persons were killed on the spot while another five were seriously injured.
In connection with accident, an FIR was filed in Ukhrul police.
After investigation by police, it was found that the Marshall Jeep serving as passenger carrier had no valid permit and there was no insurance certificate.
The owner of the taxi KS Jonathan of Hundung currently staying at Shingkap village was arrested by Ukhrul police from his home under the charge of doing taxi service without valid permit resulting in the death and casualties of passengers.
