In response to a question, the Major Geninformed that Myanmarese authorities have taken up necessary measures to prevent operation of Indian UGs from their soil and given the assurance of flushing out the UGs .
Significantly, GOC of 3 Corp, Lt General NK Singh in an interaction with the media at Rangapahar on October 15, had informed that the Government of India was in close touch with Myanmar over the issue.
The GOC had also categorised the camps at the border area as transit camps (training), big and small camps and had added that the camps have no official support.
The only support the militants may enjoy was local, the GOC had claimed.
In October the Chief of Army Staff visited Myanmar and discussed a number of important issues.
Due to sharp vigil by Indian troops, the UGs had moved further from the international border, the GOC had claimed.
Stating that border fencing upto Border Pillar no.79 to 81 in Moreh on the Manipur side of the Indo-Myanmar boundary has already commenced, the Major Gen said that the same has also been brought to the notice of the visiting Myanmarese team, who appears to be aware of it.
In honour of the visiting Myanmarese delegation, an exhibition match of traditional Polo game was organised under the sponsorship of 57 Mountain Division at Mapal Kangjeibung here in the afternoon.
Played between two teams named as India and Myanmar, the match began with Brig Gen Tin Muang Ohn throwing the first ball.
The India team scored 11 goals while the Myanmar team scored 4 goals.
Apart from the Polo exhibition match, which was organised by Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association, the All Manipur Arambai Association and All Manipur Equestrian Association also respectively presented throwing demonstration of Arambai and tent pegging.
