Imphal, January 09 2011:
SASO, MNP+ and CADA jointly organised a voluntary social service cum religious ceremony at Kangla fort on the occasion of Reconciliation Day today.
Around 100 volunteers, mostly drug users, recovering drug users and reformed drug users cleaned a pond and surroundings behind Bir Tikendrajit House inside the historical fort.
President of MNP+, Deepak said that marking the day with a voluntary service at Kangla gives mental, physical and spiritual exercise to all the participants.
Such programmes would motivate the participants to work for the society in the days to come, he added.
Roshan of SASO pointed out that the voluntarism among drug users would encourage others to follow suit thereby instilling the sense of giving up the deadly habit.
