IED recovered at Khordak

Imphal, January 09 2011:
Troops of 33 Assam Rifles of Loktak Brigade recovered one improvised explosive device weighing about 7 kilograms concealed inside a thermos flask at Khordak Iron bridge on January 8, said a PIB (DW) release.
While informing that Army dog Bheel sniffed the exact location of the thermos filled with explosive materials, the release said the improvised explosive device (IED) has been handed over to Kumbi police station.
On the otherhand, troops of 5 Assam Rifles under Red Shield Division recovered a brand new Tata Magic vehicle, reportedly hijacked from the outskirts of Senapati town at around 1.30 pm.
According to a PIB (DW) release, the vehicle was part of a police escorted convoy of 11 brand new vehicles, which was hijacked while proceeding to Imphal from Dimapur on NH-39 .
Troops of the aR unit finally found the hijacked vehicle at 2.45 pm and same was handed over to the driver who proceeded towards Imphal.
This was the third such incident in the recent past in which 5 Assam Rifles has successfully thwarted attempts of miscreants to carry out hijacking of new vehicles, the release added.
