World Soil Day observed

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Imphal West in collaboration with AICRP on Soil Test Crop Response (STCR), IISS Bhopal observed World Soil Day at the premises of KVK, ICAR Manipur Centre, Lamphelpat today.
Laishram Boby, member, Potshangbam Zilla Parisad and Dr I Meghachandra Singh, Joint Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre attended the event as chief guest and president respectively.
N Arunkumar Singh, Programme Coordinator, KVK Imphal West and Dr Tensubam Basanta also graced the event on the dais.
Dr RK Nirmala Devi delivered the welcome address.
Laishram Boby emphasised the roles of farmers in preserving soil health.
Dr I Meghachandra Singh urged farmers not to pollute soil with misuse of fertilisers and other chemicals.
N Arunkumar Singh said that the day was observed under the theme "Be the solution to soil pollution".
He urged farmers and general public to minimise the use of soil pollutants like plastic and agri chemicals.
Soil Health Cards were distributed to members of 10 Farmers' clubs.
About 150 farmers attended the event.
Er Kh Hera Singh pronounced vote of thanks.
In the technical session, Er Kanta Singh delivered a talk i on "Importance of Soil Testing" and Dr T Basanta Singh on "Soil Fertility and Management" .
