Retired Judge C Upendra who is heading the judicial inquiry into the killing of K Bimol has today rejected an application filed by the counsel on behalf of the State police requesting to allow cross examination of one witness namely Happyson Tangkhul in camera.
Happyson is one of the passengers who was along with the deceased Bimol in a bus along Nongren route on the day Bimol was gunned down in an alleged staged encounter by Manipur Police commandos in December 2004.Basically the counsel filed the application requesting that the witness be to allow cross examination of Happyson and another lady who is said to be the mother of the deceased in camera.
Though the commission rejected the application in respect of Happyson it would decide tomorrow in respect of the lady, the source said.
On Feb 7, the commission conducted examination-in-chief on Happyson and since the application made by the police's counsel has been rejected, Happyson was crossed examined today, the source added.
