Imphal, February 09 2010:
The All Manipur Government Recognised Private Schools' Welfare Association has agreed to take only one month's fee out of the four months during which no class was conducted due to class boycott.
In case of schools which have already collected tuition fees for more than one month, the additional amount would be adjusted with the admission fee of this academic session.
In the meantime, the private schools, keeping in view financial woes of private school teachers and founders because of the escalating prices of essential commodities, have decided to hike admission fees by 20-30 per cent from this academic session.
Speaking to mediapersons at Manipur Press Club here this afternoon, chief advisor of All Manipur Government Recognised Private Schools' Welfare Association Tomba said that founders of private schools have been facing severe difficulties, following sharp increase in prices of articles, in running schools.
In order to enable the 210 schools affiliated to the association run their management properly and impart quality education, these schools would hike admission fees by 20-30 per cent, Tomba said.
Appreciating the decision of the State Govt to commence the next academic session of schools and colleges from April in line with the national norms, Tomba said that private schools affiliated to the association would, however, begin advance preparatory courses from the second week of March to make up for the time lost due to the law and order situation of Manipur.
Observing that absence of transfer policy for lower classes have been causing serious inconveniences, Tomba sought attention of the State Government to frame a transfer policy for class I to V .
