Two men allegedly running a fake I-card making racket have been apprehended at border Moreh in Chandel district.
The accused mainly targeted Myanmar nationals seeking entry into India through international border gate at Moreh.
Troops of 31 Assam Rifles apprehended the two individuals identified Malsawna (32) son of Arun Barik of
Moreh ward no.1 and Paokhogin (32) son of Onkholet of Mroeh ward no.2 on last Saturday (July 31) last and handed over to the Moreh police next day with a fake Identity Card.
Police investigation into the fake I-card revealed that the two individuals make the I-card to the Myanmar nationals seeking entry into the Indian side using forging the signature of the SDC Moreh civil administration.
They sold the I-card at the rate of Rs 500 per card.
Police booked them under section 61/68 of the IPC read with section 34 and remanded into their custody for further investigation, a police source said Tuesday.
