Despite depositing a sum of Rs five lakhs for supplying power to the software park currently being constructed at Mantripukhri, Electricity Department has been found providing only sub standard and second hand transformers to the software park, disclosed a reliable sources.
The software park is being constructed under the sponsorship of Union Ministry of Communication and Information Technology.
The source further said that the deposited amount (Rs five lakhs) was meant for laying the 11 KV line between IOC and the software park and for installing a 110 KV transformer.
It further said that the Power Dept by joining the park's powerline with the domestic lines has also violated the guidelines laid down by the park authorities.
Even though the park is yet to be inaugurated the park has already opened its "satellite gateway" after uplinking with the British Telecom and International Carrier.
Informing that the park has already begun providing services to the internet service providers after uplinking itself with the British Telecom and International Carrier, an official of the park said that efforts are on to provide radio link to the Manipur University and Institute of Bio Research and Sustainable Development within a short period.
The park is presently acquiring 512 bandwidth per second from the British Telecom, informed the official and added that construction of the park's incubator Centres for the IT importers have also been completed.
