Imphal, October 17:
Close on the heels of the State Govt closely scrutinizing the performance and works of various Govt officials, Chief Secretary Jarnail Singh has also begun personally inspecting various schemes and projects taken up by the State Govt, informed a highly placed source.
The source informed that the Chief Secretary had earlier instructed all the Government officials to personally visit the work sites and inspect the works undertaken.
The officials had also been warned of stern actions if they sign the necessary papers without actually visiting the work sites, it added.
It may be noted here that strict instructions were issued to the Govt officials after most of the schemes and projects under taken in the State were found complete in the officials files without actually completing the works.
The source further said that the Govt is ready to award major penalties ranging from termination of service, deduction of salaries etc to any official found neglecting his duties or submitting wrong reports to the Government without actually going to the work sites.
Meanwhile, the installation of the 132 KV tower which was washed away during the massive landslide at Keithelmanbi under Senapati dist a few months back will be installed before October 25 as directed by the Chief Secretary who personally visited the site a few days back.
Mention may be made here that installation works of the tower had been stalled as the officials concerned had submitted a report stating that the installation works would take about 2/3 months.
On the other hand, the construction works of the Canchipur Water Supply project which had also been stalled for quite a while will start soon as the Governor who inspected the site have already instructed the authorities concerned to provide the necessary cement for the construction work to resume.
The Governor paid the surprise visit to the project site following complaints that construction works had come to an abrupt halt without furnishing any reason.
Sources also informed that Governor will also be personally looking into the Education Department as well as the NIOS to improve the overall education system in the State.
Meanwhile Director of DONER Amit Sahai arrived at Imphal today to inspect the developmental projects being taken up here, particularly water supply schemes.
