Health and Family Welfare Minister Ph Parijat inaugurated a two-day conference themed 'onto your health' cum free medical camp at Machi village of Machi Block in Chandel district yesterday in addition to assuring all possible measures for setting up a Primary Health Sub Centre (PHSC) there.
Machi village lies on the border of Chandel and Ukhrul districts and is one of the most remote areas in the state.
In his address on the occasion of inaugurating the conference hosted by Tengnoupal Block unit of the Kuki Students' organisation under the aegis of Chief Medical officer (Chandel), Minister Parijat conveyed to the gathering that in all 475 PHSCs and 80 Primary health Centres (PHCs) exist in the State to cater to the health-care necessities of the citizens.
Reflecting to a memorandum submitted by representatives of Khoibu and surrounding villages for setting up a PHSC, he conveyed that the Central Government had been prohibiting establishment of more PHSCs than the existing ones in the State.
Rather the Centre is strongly advocating on strengthening manpower for better reach and vitality of PHSCs, the Minister claimed while assuring that inspite of the Central Government curb necessary steps for setting up a health centre at Khoibu village would be processed by the State government.
the medical camp was organised with the concept of extending health care facility to villagers of remote places where structural medical amenities are not available.
Expressing strong desire that people of every section of the society live a healthy life, Parijat also called upon the public to extend co-operation to the Government in solving the insurgency problem which he asserted had been impeding all socio-economic development of the State.
Highlighting gravity of problems as a consequence of armed groups being floated even on community line, he said problems created by UG groups not only is a headache for the Government but is responsible for creating animosity amongst various communities.
Former Lok Sabha MP Kim Gangte and CMO (chandel) also participated and addressed the gathering during the inaugural programme of the medical camp which was conducted under the supervision of five doctors and other support staff.
Apart from health check-up of a large number of villagers, blood samples were collected and tested for detection of malarial diseases with the medical experts also elaborating on preventive measures against malaria and other diseases.
