To scale up measures being taken up by the State Government to prevent spread of Swine Flu, a high level meeting presided by the Chief Secretary was convened at the conference hall of the Chief Secretary here this afternoon.
Apart from officials of the State Government including Director of Health Services, Medical Superintendent of JN Hospital, Director of JNIMS, Director of DIPR as well as Medical Superintendent of RIMS, IGAR (South) and representatives of Airport Authority of India and NRHM, the meeting was also attended by Dr AK Puri and Dr S Kulshreshtra of Directorate General of Health Services, Government of India, who are currently at Imphal since yesterday and Joint Director Dilip Ratha of Union Ministry of Agriculture who arrived here today.
During the meeting, State Nodal Officer Dr Bhubonchandra presented a power point presentation on the steps being taken up by the Government to prevent spread of Swine Flu and the future course of action to be initiated in this regard.
On the existing infrastructures and manpower required for prevention of Swine Flu, Dr Bhubonchandra informed that meeting that there is adequate medicine, PPE and mask in the State.
Noting that the doctors of the State Health Department been already received necessary training under the Government of India on prevention of Swine flu outbreak, the State Nodal Officer said that these doctors in turn have imparted the training to the doctors of JN Hospital.
Similar training programmes for the doctors of the district hospitals would begin from the current week, he added.
In view of the difficulties faced in sending the samples for test at NICD, Delhi, the State officials proposed to the Central team for setting up a diagnostic centre at Imphal.
Taking note of the proposal, the Central team assured of doing the needful.
However, it was made clear a Central team would have to inspect first where the equipments of the diagnosis centre are to be kept and how they are supposed to be utilised.
Another proposal for providing eight ventilators have also been placed from the side of the State Government officials to the Central team during the meeting which also discussed the need for organising more public awareness programme on Swine flu and the precautionary measures being taken up by the State Government.
