At least 5 killed, claims RPF

Imphal, January 06 2011:
At least five security personnel were killed while many others sustained injuries in two consecutive ambushes launched by PLA and the Ching Tam Liberation Army (CTLA), the army wing of the United Naga People's Council (UNPC).
In the first incident, the combined team ambushed a patrol party of 23 Assam Rifles at a place between Khambi and Maring Khul under Phungyar Constituency of Ukhrul district at about 1.55 pm of December 31 .
Three AR personnel were killed in the attack while many others sustained injuries, some grievously, claimed a statement issued by RPF's Publicity Secretary T Leisemba.
Two other personnel of 12 AR were killed in another attack by PLA and CTLA at a spot between Nambisa and Kangpat under Kamjong sub-division of Ukhrul district at about 11 am of January 1 .
One CTLA cadre was also lost in the second gun fight.
Informing that the outfit held condolence service in honour of the departed CTLA cadre in all units, departments and stations of the RPF and PLA, it also conveyed solidarity to the bereaved family.
Condoling the loss of the CTLA cadre, the outfit remarked that his supreme sacrifice has shown the path to the rightful destination of the liberation movement.
Th outfit reiterated that it has its door wide open to all like minded revolutionaries to take on the common enemy collectively.
Highlighting the crucial importance of forging unity among the people of hills and valley, it called upon all revolutionary groups of the land to unite together.
Enhanced security network and presence of increased reactionaries among the people have produced a big impact on the liberation movement and this is reflected in the perception of the public.
Nevertheless, this cannot defeat the spirit of revolution.
It is only a temporary setback and this would be overcome with time.
What is crucial here is firm conviction of both the people and revolutionaries.
In a political armed struggle, the collective strength of the people can certainly overthrow the Delhi regime, the outfit asserted.
