MP Dr Th Meinya and various social and student organisations condoled the death of renown academician Prof Naorem Sanajaoba.
In his condolence message, Dr Meinya said, "Sanajaoba's demise is a loss to the people of Manipur.
With his demise, I have lost a philosopher friend who was inspiring me in many ways despite differences".
The MP also also shared grief with the bereaved family.
United Committee Manipur (UCM) convened a condolence meeting at its office today with its president Yumnamcha Dilipkumar presiding over the meeting.
Speakers in the meeting remembered Sanaojaoba as an academician who left behind immense knowledge and sense of sacrifice
in the society.
Expressing grief over the demise of Sanajaoba, Ethno Heritage Council (HERICOUN) said that his death would left behind a huge void to the State.
Condoling the death of its first president, All Manipur Students Union (AMSU) remembered Sanajaoba as a torch bearer who worked in the field of Human Rights protection.
The students body said that his death is a great loss to the State, where Human Rights violation are happening everywhere.
AMSU will put its flag half marched until the ritual ceremonies of the late Professor is over.
A condolence meeting for the former office bearers of AMSU was also held at Manipur Press Club today.
The meeting observed that Prof Sanajaoba was a brave academician who enlightened the society with his thoughts.
Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) condoled the death with the observance of two-minute silence.
In a condolence message, the students body said that Sanajaoba was not only an academician of the State but for the whole Northeastern region.
All Manipur Bar Council (AMBA), Manipur People's Party, Union of Social Upliftment, Royal Academy of Law, Patriotic Writers' Forum, All Manipur Manpower Upliftment Centre and United Villages and Clubs' Organisation also condoled the death of Prof N Sanajaoba.
