Cabinet okays tripartite talks

A meeting of the State Cabinet today has given its approval to holding tripartite talks involving the United Naga Council (UNC), the State Government and the Centre at Senapati on May 30 .
In the tripartite talks, the Government of Manipur would be led by its Information Minister TN Haokip.
Talking to mediapersons in connection with the Cabinet meeting held with Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh in the chair, spokesperson of the SPF Government and IFC Minister N Biren said consequent to the last State Cabinet meeting on May 11 which endorsed that the tripartite talks should be held inside the territory of Manipur, today's meeting approved holding of the talks at Senapati on May 30 .
At the talk, Information Minister TN Haokip would lead Govt delegation with Education Minister DD Thaisii, himself, Chief Secretary DS Poonia and officials of the Planning and TD Hills part of the delegation.
Officials of Union Home Ministry would also be present in the talk, the spokesperson disclosed.
Today's meeting also decided to communicate with the Union Home Ministry the exact demand of UNC ahead of the proposed tripartite talk, the spokesperson added.
It may be recalled here that following the incident of killing two students in police firing on protestors who were taking out a rally at Mao Gate over the State Government's decision of stopping NSCN (IM) general secretary Thuingaleng Muivah from entering Manipur on May 6 last year as well as alleged imposition of ADC election, UNC announced its decision of severing ties with the Government of Manipur and demanded the Centre for 'an alternative arrangement' .
On other decisions that the State Cabinet has taken today, the spokesperson informed that the Cabinet has given its approval to increasing the DA and DR of the employees working under the Government of Manipur from 45 percent to 51 percent with effect from April 1 this year.
The resultant increase in the DA and DR of the employees would make the Government spend an additional Rs 6.87 crores every month, the spokesperson added.
Today's Cabinet meeting has also reportedly gave its approval to appointment of 16 employees on contract basis as instructors for class III and class IV in ITI .
