Works Minister Th Debendra, who is also the Chief Minister-in-charge today informed the House that the district police, police stations and police commandos have been kept on high alert to arrest the hooded looters, who have been in the news recently.
Answering to a query raised Federal Party of Manipur MLA L Chandra, the Minister said that till date no specific FIR has been lodged in connection with the hooded looters.
Debendra further said that based on news reports, investigations are on to verify whether any police commandos are involved in the crime or not.
A number of such suspects and those with questionable credentials have been pulled up under CrPC section 109/110 for questioning, added Debendra.
Autonomous District Council: To a question raised by Wangkhei AC MLA Y Erabot, Tribal Development Minister Phungzathang Tonsing said that there are 3476 staff employed in the six autonomous district councils of the State.
To a supplementary question, Tonsing said that Govt employees who were sent on deputation to the ADC can be absorbed back to their parent department and on retirement will get pensions and other retirement benefits of the parent department.
On the other hand for the employees appointed directly by the ADCs the Government is mulling over the possibility of granting them pension benefits once they retire, added the Minister.
Education Dept: Replying to a question raised by Khurai AC MLA N Bihari, Education Minister Francis Ngajokpa today informed the House that there are 12,388 teachers in the Department.
Out of the total, 965 are teachers in the higher secondary level, 5932 in high schools, 497 in junior high schools and 5394 in primary schools, further informed the Minister.
Surveys are on to detect the fake appointments in the School Education Department, said Ngajokpa and added that the Department has not given any formal recognition to any teachers appointed on the sly.
