Four women, leaders of Meira Paibis arrested by the police on the charge of burning down merger agreement on October 15 which underground outfits observed as "Black Day" have been detained under NSA.
The four women detained under NSA today before their detention orders issued were Sapam Bimola (65) of Sapam Khunou, publicity secretary of Khongjom Circle Meira Paibi Forum, its general secretary Mutum Nirmala (40), Chingtham Bilashini (60) of Sapam Laibung and Tekcham Madhumati (45) of Tekcham Bazar Khongnang Makhong.
They were arrested by the police for participating in the protest against the merger of Manipur by burning down merger agreement on October 15 last which some underground outfits observed as black day.
Police picked up them on October 21 last and remanded into police custody till today after producing them in the court.
With the expiry of police custody period, they were produced in the court of Thoubal CJM today again at about 1 pm.
However, they were detained under NSA by the authority of the government.
On hearing that the four women have been detained under NSA, many women who converged at the CJM court complex tried to snatch away the four women from the hand of the police which resulted in a brief scuffle.
