Imphal, April 16 2009:
The Manipur People's Party (MPP) Spokesperson RK Anand insisted the electorates to battle for the power of killing innocents that the Congress and the CPI possess through the voting right.
Dwelling on the law and order situation while addressing an election rally for MPP candidate Th Chaoba on Thursday at Malom Bazar, RK Anand said that there is no rule of law in Manipur.
He said that the killings carried out by the police commandos have been instigated by the Congress and the CPI.
The insurgency movement in the state is only against the forceful merger of Manipur into Indian Union, and as such the solution cannot be brought with gun culture, RK Anand said.
On the claim that several militants have been killed in the ongoing military operation at Loktak, RK Anand doubted that the militants may not be slain in encounters against this backdrop of quite a few numbers of people being killed in fake encounters.
RK Anand said that even helicopters were used beyond the rule of laws in the ongoing operation while a large numbers of people have been used as human shield.
He also pointed out that the Chief Minister doesn't agree to the request made by the Thanga MLA Mangibabu for the end of the operation.
He also wonders why similar operation has not been carried out at the designated camps of the NSCN (IM) in Ukhrul, Chandel and Senapati districts.
MPP President Dr L Chandramani said that the people should endeavour to bring in a peaceful atmosphere in the land.
He also said that the time has now come for regional parties to run a government in India.
He said that the Chief Minister turned a deaf ear to the issue of expansion of airport.
Dr Chandramani also said that the fate of Manipur is just like that of Tripura if not the migrant influx is not checked in time.
He said that National political parties don't bother to address this issue.
The MPP leader also said that the Union Home Minister had buried the Jeevan Reddy Commission recommendation in the closet while no MP has raised the issue for the repeal of AFSPA.
