Vice Chairman HAC prepared to resign on Sadar Hill issue

In an interaction today with Zeliangrong Frontal organizations leaders at PWD IB, Khangthuanang Panmei, local MLA and Vice Chairman Hill Areas Committee assured the public leaders that he would tender his resignation in the eventuality of creation of Sadar Hill sub- Divisional into full- fledge district.
The meeting was organized by Zeliangrong Youth Front to discuss the MoU signed between the State government and representatives of Sadar Hill District Demand Committee on 31st October.
The meeting was well attended by leaders from various organizations including local MLA & Vice Chairman HAC, Khangthuanang Panmei.
Khangthuanang Panmei, local MLA & Vice Chairman HAC believes that any issue pertaining to hill district of Manipur would come to Hill Areas Committee, HAC and when the time to give signature for creation of Sadar Hill into full fledge district comes, he is ready to walk out and ready to tender his resignation.
The meeting strongly condemned the MoU signed between state government and representatives of Sadar Hills District Demand Committee on 31st October 2011 .
During the meeting the ZYF circulated a copy of MoU signed by state government and SHDDC on 31st October last.
In the MoU signed by NgamkhohaoHaokip, President, SHDDC, Tonghen Kipgen, General Secretary SHDDC and Sumant Singh, Secretary to Chief Minister, Manipur and DS Poonia, Chief Secretary, Government of Manipur agreed to upgrade Sadar Hills as full- fledged district at the earliest after submission of report of the district Re- Organisation committee.
It is also agreed to bifurcates and form new sub- division from the existing Sub- Division Kangpokpi , into Champhai and T.Vaichong, from Saikul Sub- Division into Saikul and Island and from Saitu- Gamphazol sub- Division into Saitu- Gamphazol and KhangchupGeljang sub- Division and will inaugurate these newly form sub- division within the month of November 2011 .
The MoU also agreed to locate the SDO Champhai temporarily at Kangpokpi till the construction of its office building is completed at Champhai.
The government also agreed in principle to creation of Lhungtin SDC Circle within Saikul Sub- Division.
Further, the government of Manipur has agreed to withdraw all the legal cases against SHDDC leaders and volunteers and other legal involvement over the agitation and SHDDC hence agree to suspended 93 days old economic blockade impose by them on NH 39 and 53 .
