ABVP Manipur submits charter of demand, memo to Governor

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), submitted a charter of demand to the Governor highlighting numerous issues.
It mentioned that Jiribam, although declared as a district is filled with lots of insufficiencies.
The Jiri College is the only Government College in the district without a full fledged Principal and the college is functioning with insufficient infrastructure/laboratories.
Meanwhile, the connecting roads from NH 37 to Jiri College and JT road to Jiri College are in dilapidated conditions.
It further underlined the worse condition of the Government Higher Secondary School in the heart of Jiribam district.
The school is also suffering from lack of subject teachers and proper infrastructure, it added.

The present condition of the Jiri-Tipaimukh road, which connects three districts namely Jiribam, Pherzawl and Churachandpur, is pathetic with presence of many pot holes leading to many mishaps.
The charter of demands also stressed on the need to construct bridges to provide more and alternative connectivity.
On the other hand, ABVP submitted a memorandum to the Governor, regarding the occurrence of crimes against women and children, urging to take up necessary steps to ensure safety of students in schools and boardings/hostels.
It also demanded to set up and implement strict rules and regulations to run a school or a hostel and to appoint a counsellor in each hostel to monitor the students.
The memorandum also stressed on the need of doctor/nurse in the campus and maintained that fair and fast justice is necessary.
It stated that ABVP organised a candle march protest in front of Kangla fort on July 21 to condemn the death of N Babysana.
It also initiated signature campaign in which over 52,000 people have signed demanding swift justice for Babysana.
