Bongmol hit by wind storm

Imphal, March 17 2013 :
Many houses have been either flattened or blown away in the strong gale which swept across Bongmol village in Chandel district last night.
Bongmol is a village inhabited mainly by Kuki people and it is located 48 kms from Sita Lamkhai of Machi Block or 40 kms from Heirok side.
The storm started blowing at around 8.30 pm leaving behind a trail of destruction.
Chairman and Secretary of Machi and Tengnoupal Chiefs' Association today visited the village to inspect and take stock of the devastation caused.

Apart from assuring the affected villagers with necessary assistance that could be extended from the side of the Association, the Chairman and the Secretary also gave their words of highlighting the problems of the villagers to the relevant authorities of the State Government.
Out of many houses that have suffered damage in the storm, the five of them have been completely flattened and the affected villagers are taking shelter at the community hall.
