Out of 17 Memoranda of Understanding signed between India and Vietnam during the recently concluded business summit held at Convention Centre of Ho Chi Min city, the capital of Vietnam, from February 12 to 14 last.
Talking to media person during a press conference held at the conference hall of Imphal Hotel, Director of MANITRON, N Joykumar, who took part in the business summit said that during the summit, 17 MoUs were signed between India and Vietnam on the improvement of trade and business between the two countries.
Out of the 17 MoUs, four are between the State of Manipur and the Vietnamese authorities.
The MoUs are related with the transfer of technical knowhow in taking up food processing, bamboo and handicraft industries and the IT sector, Joykumar informed.
Two of the MoUs were signed with the authority of the Manipur Food Pro-cessing Corporation while one each with the authorities of MANITRON and MSK Marung and Technology, he added.
India's Ambassador in Vietnam, Joint Secretary, DoNER, Jarnail Singh, Indian Consulate at Ho Chi Min city, Jitendranath Misra, state Commissioner (Planning), Additional Chief Secretary DS Poonia and Secretary, Indian Chambers of Commerce, Rajiv Singh took part in signing the MoU.
It was signed with MS Korex Trade Links and MSMY and Business Corporation, Ho Chi Min, he added.
During the interaction, private entrepreneurs of the state lamented that though the summit was a successful one it could have been much more successful had the concerned ministry of the state or the centre attended the summit.
Apart from Managing Director MANITRON and Manipur Food and Industries Corporation, N Joykumar, manager North East Territory, Nongmeikappam Indrajit, proprietor of the MSK Marung and Sons, Khaling Angpu, manager cum director, Advance Multi Technology Private Limited, Thoidingjam Baleshwor and adminis-trator, AMT Private Limited, Thokchom Suresh, who took part in the Vietnam summit attended the press conference.
