UNICEF official arriving on April 5

Imphal, March 29 2011:
United National International Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF) representative, Mrs Karim Hulshof would be visiting Imphal on April 5 and 6 to take stock of children's health and education situation in the State.
Giving due importance to the rare visit of a UNICEF representative, which is an organ of the UNO, the State Government has made all preparations to extend all possible cooperation.
Karim Hulshof would also visit some children homes during her stay in Imphal.
She is also set to interact with top Government officials on the health and education conditions of children in the State, informed an official source.
The UNICEF representative would also meet the Chief Minister, Social Welfare Minister, Health Minister and the Chief Secretary.
During her meeting with the Chief Minister, Health Commissioner V Vumlumang would present a report on the state of health and education of the State's children.
Mrs Karim Hulshof would visit RIMS and JNIMS after which she would hold a meeting with the State Child Nodal Officer, NGOs and Government officials at Secretariat.
The main purpose of Karim Hulshof's visit is to make a direct assessment of issues related to children being witnessed in Manipur and to identify areas where the UNICEF can extend assistance.
In connection with the proposed visit of the UNICEF representative, a preparatory meeting of the State Government's top officials was held this morning with the Chief Secretary in the chair.
