The statewide 12-hour 'Chakka Bandh' imposed by the Indigenous Democratic Front (IDF) pressing government to announce the date elections to the Autonomous District Council ended at 6 pm Monday with mix response in four hill districts of Manipur.
The Chakka Bandh did not affected in the normal plying of vehicles along the stretch of the Mao-Imphal section of the NH-39 where all vehicles coming from outside the state arrived in Imphal without any untoward incident on the way.
Vehicles leaving Imphal for its destination outside the state also passed the stretch with no untoward incident.
The 12-hour Chakka Bandh was imposed by the Indigenous Democratic Front (IDF) alleging government failed to address the grievances facing by the people of the hills by not holding the elections to the Autonomous District Council which have been held up for more than 30 years.
The stir has its impact in Chandel, Churachandpur, Tamenglong districts where most of the commercial transport vehicles were stayed off the road.
No vehicles including passenger buses from these districts.
Even though the stir has its impact in Kangpokpi are of Senapati district, normal plying of all kings of vehicles reported in Senapati district headquarters and Ukhrul district as well.
There were no impacts of the Chakka Bandh in Imphal as well as in other three valley districts.
President of IDF Ngachomi Chamroy has said that all the hill districts will resort to different forms of agitations indefinitely after the Chakka Bandh until the genuine democratic demand of the hill people is fulfilled.
Even though state government has been efforting to hold the elections for the last around one year, still no announcement regarding the fixing of the schedules of the election is yet to announced, he had condemned.
