BJP, MPP formally announce support to MPTC candidate

The Trinamool Congress, a partner of Congress led UPA government at the Centre, joined hands with BJP and MPP with a firm stand to defeat the Congress candidate in the February 14 bye-election to the Konthoujam A/C.It is now official that there are three candidates are in the fray.
The three are Dr Sapam Ranjan of the Congress, Konthoujam Sarat of Trinamool Congress and Khangembam Ranjit, independent candidate.
The Trinamool Congress candidate is being supported by the BJP and the MPP.
A formal announcement to this was made in a press conference held in the office of the Manipur Trinamool Congress today in which leaders of the BJP and MPP also attended.
Trinamool Congress president Kim Gangte, addressing reporters, said that her party have allied with BJP and MPP with the objective of defeating the Congress candidate.
Kim Gangte said, she was happy that the two parties have come forward to support her party.
This has boosted the morale of the party.
The party will leave no stone unturned in the effort to free the people from the clutches of suffering under the Congress led SPF government in the state, she went on to say.
State BJP president Sh Shantikumar said his party has decided to extend support to Sarat to defeat the Congress.
He also said his party considered is going to be a strong rival of the Congress in the 2012 Assembly election.
Shantikumar criticised the SPF government for being one of the most corrupt governments to have ever ruled the state.
BJP's central leaders know this and have taken stock of the scams to expose them nationwide.
MPP president in-charge, Y Mangi said that the Congress has desecrated democratic practice and as such the MPP is determined to defeat the Congress.
When goons, contractors and "die in-harness candidates" win elections and become the people's representatives, the future of the people is at stake.
With the determination to save the state from further deterioration under Congress rule, the party is resolved to defeat the Congress, he asserted.
He further stressed on the lack of law and order in the state.
The party considers the Konthoujam by-election as a golden chance to teach the Congress a lesson, he said and appealed to the people of Konthoujam to consider twice before casting their votes on polling day.
