Several different organizations in Sadar Hills, Senapati district today formed Joint Action Committee against the kidnapping of L Veikhoron and L Veina of Thanamba Village at the residence of Sadar Hills Women Union president.
The JAC includes Sadar Hills Women Union (Convenor of the committee), Tamkazak Naga Women Welfare Organisation, Senapati Karong Women Association, Poumai Naotou Mai me, Kangpokpi Area Poumai Women Union, Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organisation, Mother's Union of Nepali, Kuki, Meetei and Naga community and Naga Women Union, Manipur.
Speaking to media after the meeting, Convenor of the JAC Sadar Hills Women Union Secretary Vahchin Haokip said that, though the two kidnapped women have already been rescued, it is learn from a reliable source that the arrested person in connection with the case is due to be released on bail without taking appropriate action.
Therefore the women welfare is not pleased with the action initiated by the state government.
She further said that, the JAC was formed to pressure the State Government to initiate unbiased action in the case.
The JAC urged the State Government not to release Sanatomba of Sekmai who has been arrested by the state force in connection with the kidnapping of the two women in any condition without the knowledge of the committee.
They have also warned to launch intense agitation if the main culprit in the kidnapping case Waikhom Bikram Singh is not booked within 2 days time.
