Imphal, June 19 2012:
All Tribal Disables' Union Manipur (ATDUM) expressed its dissapointment over alleged mistreatment of physically challenged persons in the State, particularly in the educational sector.
It must be noted that the State only has one school for the mute, blind and deaf at Takyelpat, but the State does not currently have any school for persons with locomotor disabilities.
An ATDUM statement opined that since the society does not encourage education of physically challenged persons, it degenerates their dreams of pursuing education.
The Union asked concerned authorities to take effective measures and provide schools for them with hostel facilities at any of the hill districts of the State.
