Mobile theft cases solved, one held

Solving many cases of theft related to mobile phone handsets from Government and private establishment offices, personnel of City Police Station have arrested a man.
The man identified as Ningombam Khondon Singh (42) of Bashikhong Kitna Panung was reportedly arrested by City Police from Paona Bazar on April 13.With the help of a DO letter signed by an MLA, Khomdon gained entry into Government and private establishment offices and stole mobile phone handsets by taking advantage of opportune moment.
Talking to mediapersons in this connection today evening, OC of City Police Station Inspector RK Tejbir informed that investigation into the loss of a mobile phone handset ( Nokia N-72) belonging to secretary of Human Rights Law Network Thokchom Premlata Devi from her own office room table at Paona Bazar on March 12 led to the arrest of Khomdon and exposure of his modus operandi.
Premlata suspected that Khomdon may the one who stole her mobile phone and contacted the police about his presence in Paona Bazar area on April 13 .
Accordingly, Sub-Inspector L Ronil was deputed as IO for investigation into the complaint , the SDPO informed.
One mobile phone handset which Khomdon had sold to one of the staff in SS Electronics, Paona Bazar could be recovered on April 14.In the afternoon of the same day, another mobile handset which had been sold by Khomdon too had been recovered from the nearby RS Electronics.
Similarly, another mobile handset sold to Imphal Fashion Market at Paona Bazar had also been recovered on April 15 and another handset from Auto Parking Mapal Kangjeibung yesterday.
Today, one Nokia N-70 handset was recovered from Seven Brothers Mobile Phone Servicing Centre at Khuman Palli.
This same handset turned out to be that of Premlata.
