Farmers training programme

A farmers' training programme was held at Unique Education Coaching Centre, Thouda Bhabok Leikai today.
Organised under the aegis of All Manipur Medicinal Plants Development Association, the programme was held under the sponsorship of Technology Mission, Department of Horticulture & Soil Conservation.
AO (Mushroom) Y Doren Singh, retired Supervisor MKVIB L Sukhendro Singh Proprietor of Para Fruit Kh Sanayaima Singh and CMD of The Sui Generesis, Manipur Ragesh Keisham were among the resource persons who conducted the training programme during which topics like Mushroom cultivation, Bee Keeping, Fruit Preservation, Lemon Grass Cultivation, etc were covered.
Speaking on Mushroom cultivation, Y Doren Singh explained that artificial plantation of Mushroom is done for its medicinal and nutritional values.
Mushroom cultivation can be done through substrate preparation or selection, heat treatment, chemical treatment.
Non-edible mushrooms may be toxic.
On Bee Keeping, L Sukhendro explained that there are four types of honey bees namely Apis Dorsata, Apis Floria, Trigona and Apis Indica.
Among them, Apis Dorsata produce richest amount of honey and they live in great heights.
On the other hand, honey produced by Apis Floria may be good for its medicinal value but it is bitter in taste.
He also explained about various methods experimented to gather bees in an artificial environment.
