Imphal, December 16:
Reacting to the reported announcement for another public hearing on Tipaimukh Project, the Citizen's Concern for Dams and Development has raised strong objection to the alleged sham exercise of public hearing.
A press release issued by CCDD asserted that such public hearing is not a space or purposeful platform for the common people to highlight their views and opinions on the controversial Project.
The way decisions are being made on Tipaimukh Project is nothing but a mockery and denial of the rights of different communities who will be affected by the Project.
Reminding that it did oppose public hearings held on the same disastrous Project held in Churachandpur and Tamenglong districts earlier, CCDD stated that it will continue to oppose any attempt to conduct such alleged meaningless exercise aimed at garnering legitimacy for the Project.
The fact that international tender process and other infrastructure arrangements have already been made prior to the public hearing clearly indicate that whatever be the stance the people, the outcome of the public hearing will not feature at all in deciding the fate of the project, asserted CCDD.
