Imphal, November 30:
The All Manipur District Council Teachers Association has decried the failure of the Government to release their salaries for the past four months and 10 pc DA increment.
In case the demands of the teachers are not met by December 7 then the district council teachers will be constrained to go in for a pen down strike.
A statement issued by the Association said that an emergency meeting was held yesterday wherein, the plight of the teachers was discussed minutely.
Since the salaries of the teachers have not been paid for the last four months, the teachers are finding it hard to feed and clothe their families, said the statement.
The statement further stated that the salaries for the four months have not been released on the ground that the respective ZEOs have failed to submit the MGEL to the Government.
The teachers pointedly questioned, why the teachers should be made to suffer for the incompetency of the officers concerned.
The teachers also pointed out that instead of victimising them, the Government should take to task the officers who have failed to submit the MGEL.
Though the general employees of the State Government are entitled to 10 pc DA increment with effect from January this year, the district council teachers have been deprived of this privilege and questioned why this is so.
General employees are also allowed to enjoy 14 pc DA arrear to be deposited in their GPF, but the same has not extended to the district council teachers, charged the statement.
Numerous memorandum have been submitted but till date no positive action has been taken, it further alleged.
