Inspite of highlighting numerous problems faced by Yairipok residents and village of nearby areas due to insufficient medical personnel at the yairipok CHC for the past many months All Yairipok united Clubs Organisation demanding posting of doctors prescribed for a CHC within August 3 warned of shutting down the OPD in case of further negligence.
Elaborating on difficulties faced by the general public the Yairipok body alleged of two doctors currently posted at the CHC attending to patients only during OPD hours ranging from 9.30 am till 12 noon.
Even though there are many persons still requiring medical attention the two doctors citing end of OPD hours and start of emergency/casualty time cease OPD duties, it said.
The matter could have been address had authorities concerned cared to replenish prescribed strength of four doctors for the PHC, said the Organisation and added that of the four one had taken leave following an accident with the second unlikely to return for another 2/3 years till completion of PG course at RIMS.
Under such prevailing conditions patient party have no alternative means during emergency cases but to hire vehicles to reach medical centres at Imphal thereby taking heavy toll financially, it added while reiterating demand for posting of doctors in adequate strength within August 3 to prevent OPD closure agitation.
