Imphal, July 25, 2012:
The State Vigilance Commission has recommended the Commissioner (Home) to terminate a lady Sub-Inspcctor who joined service by using OBC certificate based on her husband's annual income.
A highly placed source informed that one Ronita Maisnam was recruited in the Police Department as Sub-Inspector in 2010 and she used an OBC certificate for the recruitment.
Investigation by the Vigilance Commission found that the particular OBC certificate used by Ronita for her recruitment was based on the annual income of her husband.
She is currently working in CID (SB) as SI on probation.
Though it was said that the age of all candidates for the particular post should be 25 years by January 1, 2008, Ronita was already 27 years and eight months old by that time as per her date of birth.
Significantly there are Government rules which say that one's OBC status should be determined according to the annual income of his/her parents, not according to the annual income of his or her spouse.
As such, the Commission has given its observation that the OBC certificate used by Ronita was null and void.
Seen from the perspective of Ronita's parents, she is not eligible to be categorised under OBC for her father is a retired Judge.
Citing the particular OBC certificate used by Ronita, the Vigilance has recommended to both the Home Commissioner and the DGP to terminate the lady SI.
